Millions Watch “Lost” Finale
Written by Admin on May 24th, 2007

The promise of the biggest reveal in the history of “Lost” lured more viewers to the show than usual. Early figures show more than 13.5 million people watched the season finale where Charlie died a hero and we got a glimpse of what Jack and Kate are doing in the future. Dominic Monaghan tells TV Guide Online that he asked to be written out of the show because he’d been “frustrated for a while.” He wants to take on more acting roles.

Big Surprises on ‘Lost’ Season Finale
Written by Admin on May 23rd, 2007

“Lost” ended Season Three with a big surprise. What’s up with the baby? What character was once despised by fans? And why did the producers feel they had to kill off a fan favorite? But first, in case you missed tonight’s final moments: In an unexpected cliffhanger, “Lost” ended its third season off the island, but the results of the death of Charlie, played by actor Dominic Monaghan since the show’s beginning, was not an easy decision for the producers to make.

“We felt this was the conclusion that was going to be best for the story of ‘Lost’ though it was painful to lose Dominic from our cast,” said Executive Producer Carlton Cuse.

Exclusive! Dominic Monaghan Discusses Charlie’s Fate? And What’s Next
Written by Admin on May 23rd, 2007

I’m honestly…heartbroken. Every time we lose a Lostie, it’s hard. But Charlie’s death tonight was especially gut-wrenching, because he was there from the beginning, because Charlie’s a big damn hero and because Dominic Monaghan has always been such a solid human being and such an integral part of the cast.

Not to mention, his performance tonight was off the charts, am I right? I actually sobbed out loud as Charlie pressed his hand up to the glass and then floated lifelessly away.

Now, granted, the producers had their reasons for letting Charlie go (in fact, you can read all about them in my just-launched Q&A with showrunner Damon Lindelof). But I know I speak for many of the fans when I say the show won’t be the same without Charlie.

Charlie’s lost it!
Written by Admin on May 22nd, 2007

RESIDENTS have been rushing to the defence of an East Lancashire town after it came in for criticism from a major television show.

In American TV drama ‘Lost’, which is watched by millions around the world, Clitheroe was referred to in disgust by fictional rock star Charlie Pace, played by Brit Dominic Monaghan.

The latest episode of the big budget series saw burned-out rocker Charlie in a flashback of his early days on the gig circuit.

His van had broken down in a country lane and the rain was lashing down.

His brother Liam tells him to keep his chin up as they are the headline act, to which Charlie replies: “Headlining? We’re playing Clitheroe – the ****side of nowhere!”

But the town’s residents and a well-known musician who is recording an album in the town have hit back at the Sky One show slur.

Peter Barton, who runs Rock Artist Management from Clitheroe and is bass player with sixties rock pioneers The Animals and Friends, deals with international music acts on a daily basis.

Peter, whose band is headlining Darwen Music Live over the coming Bank Holiday weekend, said: “I think in the past Clitheroe has probably had more rock groups come through it than any other small town in Europe.

“Deep Purple, Chris Rea, Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds, The Animals – they have all been through the town.

“Everybody that comes here loves it and the people of the town always come out for a good gig.

“I remember in the 70s when the Castle used to have major concerts on. It was a cool place to be.”

But he added: “It’s great that Clitheroe has been given exposure in such a popular programme.”

Peter is currently recording material in his Henthorn Road studio with American guitar legend Jerry Donahue, who has played with Jimi Hendrix, Fotheringay, Fairport Convention and The Hellecasters.

Jerry said: “Clitheroe is a buzzing place, especially in Peter’s corner of the town. He loves it here. Many people in his position would have moved to London, but he stayed in Clitheroe and has been a big success.”

Lost’s judgement is also refuted by Philip Knight, owner of the Key Street bar, in Lower Gate.

“The flower power generation’s big gigs at the castle could be how the script writers came to hear of Clitheroe,” said Philip.

Shortly after his Clitheroe gig, Charlie goes on to hit the big time and becomes a mega star.

Former mayor Coun Mary Robinson reckons some of the town’s own prosperity must have rubbed off on him.

She said that far from being the ‘back end of nowhere’, Clitheroe was “the jewel in the Ribble Valley crown”.

Coun Robinson said: “His comment was made before he got to Clitheroe.

“I don’t think it would have been the same after he had been and seen what we have to offer!”

Dominic Monaghan Lost And Gone Forever?
Written by Admin on May 14th, 2007

On most TV shows, when a character is told early in the season “You’re gonna die,” you can usually count on hearing the death rattle before sweeps are over. As fans of ABC’s ‘Lost ‘ have undoubtedly learned by now, though, the only thing you can expect on that show is to be thrown for a loop. Famous for killing off main characters with virtually no warning, not to mention bringing others back from the dead—welcome back, Mikhail!—it’s a show that delights in twisting its viewers’ brains into a knot as complicated as those darn island love triangles.

So, whither Dominic Monaghan, a.k.a. Charlie, the ex-rock star, ex-drug addict, surrogate father to island baby Aaron and much-needed comic relief? He’s been saved from certain death several times by the suddenly-psychic Desmond (if you haven’t been watching, don’t ask for an explanation—even die-hard fans don’t understand), but the drumbeat of death pounds on. Previews for this Wednesday’s show feature Desmond sternly telling Charlie, in his inimitable Scottish brogue, “This time, you’ve got to die.”

Losing the plot
Written by Admin on April 1st, 2007

Lost has become so confusing, Seven is airing an hour long explanation of the story so far. Melinda Houston celebrates the art of the recap.

Previously on Lost . . . There was this plane crash, right? On a tropical island? And the survivors had to fend for themselves. And fend off this invisible jungle monster. Then they discovered this button, under a trapdoor in the jungle. Which they had to keep pressing to stop the world exploding. Or not. And meanwhile there were these other people on the island. Who were killing the plane crash people. And also experimenting on them. Plus stealing their children. Which all had something to do with the Dharma Initiative. And/or the Hanso Corporation. And also a set of numbers. Which may or may not have something to do with the crippled guy being able to walk again. And the inland shipwreck, which may or may not be related to the numbers, the crippled guy walking again, the button that stops the world exploding, the Hanso Corporation, the Dharma Initiative, and whether or not a Stephen King volume is suitable material for the local book club.
