Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings), is one of the first stars of the hit ABC show to begin openly complaining about the amount of air-time he and other stars are not getting on “LOST.”
Monaghan, who plays former rock star and heroin addict Charlie Pace, was quite prominent in the first two seasons of the show, but is now starting to feel like a step-child within the large ensemble cast for season three. “It’s tough being involved in a shoot with a large cast,” he told Bang Showbiz. “Just the sheer politics can drag you down…..[you’re now hearing squabblings such as] ‘So-and-so is not getting screen time. So-and-so is not showing up on time. So-and-so isn’t behaving well on set.’”
Normally, complaints like this from members of such a large ensemble cast would be ignored and treated like schoolyard bickering, but with a definite decline in the show’s popularity and strong showings from competing networks in that timeslot, execs at ABC might be wise to take some interest in this latest indication that Paradise may be, if not lost, perhaps not as rosey as it was. With show creator J.J. Abrams’ time now so actively divided between several TV and film projects, including the major production of STAR TREK: XI, can “LOST” recover? I wouldn’t count the show out just yet, as it is taking a whole new direction by concentrating a little more on those other mysterious and very interesting inhabitants of the island – The Others!
