Lost Star Hopes United Find Their Form
Dominic Monaghan keeps a close eye on his beloved United, despite being thousands of miles away in Hawaii where he’s filming the second series of hit TV show Lost.
The 28-year-old actor, who spent his teenage years in Heaton Moor, Stockport, plays the part of rock star Charlie Pace in Lost. Previously, he came to fame as Merry in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Dominic emailed ManUtd.com with his thoughts on the must-win match against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
>”So the game of the season is upon us and what a season up to now. An unusual one for United fans.
“A defeat against Blackburn, a draw with Tottenham, four-one against Middlesbrough and that shock mid-week loss in Paris. Injuries crippling our approach and the minds of every United fan a little distracted with rumours and hearsay.
“It feels like a huge mind game in the build-up to this Chelsea match; United have always been fantastic at bouncing back, answering their critics and bringing their best form into the big games. With the right result I know it can (re)kick-start our season.
“I spent most of my recent appearance on The Tonight Show trying to convince Jay Leno that football is not a boring game! Americans and their twenty-second attention span – most of them will never get it.
“I will be working on Sunday, doing a Vanity Fair shoot with the cast of Lost. To kill time I am playing FIFA 2006 on the PSP with various cast mates. No-one can beat my Ruud and Rooney combination, and I’m hoping the same will be true against Chelsea. Come on you Reds!
“Lost Mancunian. Out.”
